belongi is an app for meeting people in person through shared activities in Berlin. You create or join small-group hangouts — real outings, in real places, with people who share your interests. Think a bouldering session, a coffee meetup, a board game afternoon in a café, or a vinyl market visit.

The app handles the matching and coordination. The rest happens offline.

A hangout is a real-life meetup organised through belongi — between 2 and 5 people, in a public place in Berlin. It has a date, a time, a location, and a purpose. It's not a group chat, a forum, or a social feed.

The exact venue name and address are only visible to accepted participants — the public listing shows the postcode only.

Once the hangout is over, it's over: all hangout data is deleted when the event ends.

Anyone in Berlin who wants to meet new people through things they actually enjoy doing. Berlin is a city where it can feel surprisingly hard to make genuine connections — lots of "we should hang out sometime" that never happens, or social circles that stay surface-level. belongi is built for people who are done with that. It works especially well for newcomers, remote workers, and anyone looking to grow their circle beyond dating apps.

belongi is free to use. Individual hangouts might have a cost (like a class fee or a ticket) — the organiser sets that when they create the hangout.

Because they're the whole point. When you set up your profile, you pick between 5 and 25 interest tags — things like bouldering, jazz, or board games. Those tags are how belongi connects you with hangouts that are actually relevant to you: the discovery list sorts hangouts by how much you have in common with the organiser, so the most relevant ones rise to the top. You need at least one interest in common with an organiser to apply to their hangout.

Yep — once every 30 days. That keeps things fair and stops people from "interest-hopping" just to see everything. You can have up to 25 on your profile. Go to My profile → Interests.

Because we're here for shared interests, not a beauty contest. No photos means less bias, less pressure, and way more "we actually have things in common."

belongi isn't built around online identity — it's built around meeting in person. Usernames tend to encourage people to craft a persona, which is the opposite of what this app is for. Your name and bio are enough. Keep it real.

Keep it human: who you are, what you love doing, and what kinds of hangouts you're into. Please skip self-promo, business links, and social handles.

Browse the discovery list, open a hangout you like, and tap Apply to join. Add an optional message if you want. The organiser reviews applications and accepts/declines them manually.

Prefer to be the one organising? Tap Create hangout to set up your own.

All open hangouts appear in Discover, sorted by shared interests with the organiser. Hangouts you can't join — no shared interests, or you don't fit the organiser's age or gender criteria — are shown last, greyed out, and cannot be opened.

Up to 5 active hangouts at the same time. Want to start a new one after that? Cancel an active one first.

If people have already applied, please leave them a quick message in the group chat or hangout page before cancelling — it's the polite thing to do.

Yes. When creating a hangout, you can set a minimum and/or maximum age, or leave it open. People outside that range won't see the hangout in Discover and can't open it directly.

They join the participant list and get access to the group chat — which is there to help everyone coordinate the logistics. Once the hangout happens, that's where the real connection starts.

When creating a hangout you provide a postcode, a venue name, and a street address. The postcode is visible on the public listing so people know roughly where it is — the venue name and full address are only revealed to accepted participants. All hangout locations must be public spaces.

Your account is deactivated immediately. Your email stays in the system for 30 days to prevent re-registration, then it's permanently removed.
